DATELINE ST LOUIS, MO (Worst game of the Sean Payton era?) Sean Payton has brought several Super moments to New Orleans so the list of stinkers are few and far between. Sure you had the opener in 07 where Indy crushed the Saints 41-10 and you had an uninspired loss in 08 at Carolina 30-7. Then you had some forgettable games last season where New Orleans lost to a horrible Arizona team led by QB Max Hall ?? 30-20. Another less than memorable moment was last season's home defeat to a youthful Cleveland club 30-17 and finally the painful Marshawn Lynch playoff dagger in Seattle. For my money, this game in St Louis was the worst---given how talented this Saints team is and how seemingly pathetic this opponent was entering the game. On the eve of Halloween, it seemed the Saints dressed up as the Rams and the…

LSU Football Preview by Jim Walsh

The LSU Tigers football team completed spring and fall camps like many other squads across the nation, but everything changed following a fight outside an off-campus bar that has shifted the focus from talk of a possible run to another BCS National Championship to more question marks for a team ranked No. 4 in the preseason USA Today and AP polls. With game week here and the focus now turning to how will LSU fare in one of the most highly anticipated opening games in Tigers history with BCS implications, what follows are the five biggest questions facing the Tigers as they set their sights on ending their season in New Orleans for the BCS title tilt. HOW WILL JARRETT LEE PERFORM AS THE NO. 1 QUARTERBACK?Lee was thrust into the starting role three years ago following the departure of Ryan Perrilloux and every LSU fan remembers his struggles…

SAINTS VS SAINTS

(brought to you by Louisiana Machinery and Capital One Bank) DATELINE: Metairie, LA/August 5th, 2010 (Payton should be a weatherman, avoids the rain again!!) There are a few constants this time of year, kids are counting the days left in summer vacation, parents are counting the days till school starts and in most camps the defense is ahead of the offense. For a change that is true here at Camp Payton which is a far cry from what it was in his first three years in training camp. Oh we remember the days of Jason David and Fred Thomas who would get roasted in the Jackson sun where Drew Brees could do whatever he wanted. Well, these days no more David, no more Thomas. instead we have the likes of Jabari Greer and Jonathan VIlma who have changed the landscape and the mindset of Saints scrimmages.

Recap of the 2010 Zurich Classic and Why I think the PGA TOUR is in Trouble…by Kelly Gibson

The 2010 Zurich Classic was a showcase for the TPC Louisiana, the city of New Orleans and of course some great golf. Jason Bohn, the winner of this year’s tournament, played remarkably, finishing at a TPC record 18-under-par 270. It became a two-man shootout late Sunday with Bohn making birdies on three of his last four holes to defeat Jeff Overton by two strokes. He will prove to be a very likable winner for the Fore! Kids Foundation and the fans of New Orleans. Despite the weather delays on Friday and Saturday, the TPC Louisiana really showed how it has become a quality venue on the PGA TOUR. Rob Arnold, head Superintendant at TPC, did an outstanding job of having the course playable after receiving almost three inches of rain on Friday afternoon. The players were very positive about the condition of the course and its playability.

by Paul Boron, CST ReporterExplain this to me. Why does it take an 83 year old man, who will be coaching only a few more years, to have the most forward thinking attitude in a conference stuck in the 70's? Joe Paterno, who will be making his 36th bowl appearance this Friday against LSU in The Capital One Bowl, thinks his league needs to add a 12th team and have a title game. Gee, no kidding!! A league in their own backyard, the MAC, has been playing a championship game for 12 years---12!!!! And the Big 10 just now realized this is a good idea? But bear in mind this is a league that still wants to cling to the sanctity of the Rose Bowl rather than have a playoff. And it has its teams ending its season long before anyone else, making them good and rusty come…

My Favorite Season of the Year

First things first. I want a playoff. I think it's insane that there is not a playoff. At least a 4 team, if not an 8 or 16 team playoff, to end the college football season, isn't too much to ask, is it? But, that being said, I love bowl season---crazy match-ups in odd locations every night of the week for nearly 3 straight weeks. And you know what? One has nothing to do with the other. You can have it all. Look Southern Miss or Middle Tennessee State aren't a factor in the playoffs so why can't they have a bowl trip to New Orleans?---It's great for the kids and great for fans. But that doesn't mean we can't have a playoff to determine a national champion. While schools are battling in Albuquerque and Saint Petersburg and New Orleans for a bowl title this weekend,…

NOTRE DAME IS FINALLY IRRELEVENT

The demise of Notre Dame football is as much its own doing as the mediocre won-loss record or anything critics want to say about head coach Charlie Weis. Notre Dame has become irrelevant on the major college football landscape. At one time the rich tradition and history may have attracted the game’s best players or maybe the fact the Irish had their own television network (NBC) to televise their home games was a reason for players to go to Notre Dame. Today what decent team is not on TV all the time? Heck, the SEC has its own network too, as a matter of fact it has CBS AND several other ESPN channels AND a syndicated SEC Network channel. In the five years under Charlie Weis Notre Dame has not beaten any team that has finished the season with fewer than four losses. What may be even more…
