NEW ORLEANS – The Canadian Football League is ready to hit the field and Cox Sports Television will continue to be the home of the CFL, as the 2009 season gets started on CST this week. Thursday’s match‐up between Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Edmonton Eskimos is the first of 36 scheduled games that will air on CST. The 2009 season marks the sixth consecutive season that the league has made a home on CST.

“The Canadian Football League offers our viewers that football fix they crave in the summer months and we are excited to welcome the CFL back for its 6th consecutive year on CST,” said CST Head Rod Mickler. “With so many CFL rosters filled with former college players from around the South, our viewers enjoy the opportunity to continue following these players progress through the professional ranks.”

The defending Grey Cup champion Calgary Stampeders will make their debut on July 17 against the Toronto Argonauts, while the regular season will end with the Stampeders hitting the road to face the Saskatchewan Roughriders on November 7.

CST will then air two league semifinal playoff games, followed by the conference finals. Once again, the season will end on CST with the Grey Cup on November 29.
