NEW ORLEANS – On the heels of the full National Basketball Association schedule being released, Cox Sports Television and the New Orleans Hornets announced today a 65-game television schedule for the 2011-12 season.
CST has been the exclusive regional sports network home for the Hornets since their debut in the Crescent City in 2002. As always, CST will produce a total of 65 Hornets games available to their fans throughout the Gulf South.
“We are thrilled that 100% of our games will be televised this year with CST covering 65 of 66 and the lone exception being the national TV game on TNT in April,” said Hornets President Hugh Weber.
"Cox Sports Television is thrilled to be entering into our tenth season of Hornets basketball" stated CST head Rod Mickler. "The Hornets fans across the Gulf South can’t wait for another year of basketball on the highest level and we can't wait to tip-off our exclusive 65 game schedule on December 26!"
Additional Hornets programming on CST includes Hornets Insider and Hornets Coaches Report. Hornets Insider gives fans a monthly look behind the scenes of the organization, while head coach Monty Williams gives fans a weekly backstage pass to the team and their preparation for each game throughout the season on Hornets Coaches Report.
Returning as the CST broadcast team is the trio of Bob Licht, Gil McGregor and Victor Howell. Licht, who has been the play-by-play voice for the Hornets radio and television for the past 15 seasons, returns to the headsets along with a 24-year Hornets broadcaster. McGregor, who was drafted in 1971 by the Cincinnati Royals, has been a part of the franchise for more than two decades. Howell begins his third season as sideline reporter and host of Hornets Tonight!, a 30-minute pregame show.
The 2011/12 season broadcast schedule begins on December 26 on the road against the Phoenix Suns. Two days later, the Boston Celtics come to town for the home opener at the Hive. CST will broadcast all but one game on the 2011-12 schedule, proving again that CST covers the Hornets like no one else.
