NEW ORLEANS – In what will be an exciting season for coverage of the New Orleans Hornets, Cox Sports Television and the Bees announced today the network’s 2010-11 television schedule.
CST has been the exclusive regional sports network home for the Hornets since their debut in the Crescent City in 2002. As always, CST will produce a total of 65 Hornets games available to their fans throughout the Gulf South. Of special interest to all Hornets fans this year, 40 of the 65 games produced by CST will be available on CSTHD. This marks the largest number of Hornets games ever produced by CST in High Definition.
"We are excited to once again be partnering with CST to bring fans in Louisiana Hornets basketball," Hornets president Hugh Weber said. "With 65 games being broadcast on CST, including a record 40 HD games, fans will have a great opportunity to see our team as we embark on a thrilling, new season."
"Cox Sports Television is thrilled to be entering into our ninth season of Hornets basketball" stated CST head Rod Mickler. "The Hornets fans across the Gulf South are anxious for another year of exciting basketball and we can't wait to tip-off our exclusive 65 game schedule on October 27!"
Additional Hornets programming on CST includes Hornets Insider and Hornets Coaches Report. Hornets Insider gives fans a monthly look behind the scenes of the organization, while new head coach Monty Williams gives fans a weekly backstage pass to the team and their preparation for each game throughout the season on Hornets Coaches Report.
The seasoned CST broadcast team returns with the trio of Bob Licht, Gil McGregor and Victor Howell. Licht returns for his sixth season as the play-by-play voice for the Hornets, McGregor is back for his 23rd year with the franchise and Howell begins his second season as CST side line reporter. Prior to each game, Howell will prep Hornets fans with Hornets Tonight!, a 30-minute pregame show before turning it over to Licht and McGregor.
The 2010-11 season broadcast schedule begins on October 27 with the home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks. Other highlights of the broadcast schedule include the November 3rd road game at Houston featuring new Hornets defensive stopper Trevor Ariza taking on his former team the Rockets before the Bees host the Miami Heat and their “Big Three” consisting of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
CST will have other key match-ups including four games with the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, four with the upstart Oklahoma City Thunder and the rest of the stars of the NBA.
