BATON ROUGE, LA – Cox Communications has signed a five-year extension to its sponsorship agreement with LSU Sports Properties. The extension, which lasts through the summer of 2015, retains Cox’s right as the “Official Communications Partner of LSU Athletics.” The original agreement, signed in 2005, made Cox Communications the first corporate member of Team LSU—the highest level of support for LSU Athletics.
“The partnership between LSU and Cox remains one of the most creative and comprehensive in all of college athletics,” said Joe Alleva, vice chancellor and director of Athletics for LSU. “Cox shares the passion for LSU that lives across Louisiana. Our partnership with CST will help continue the winning tradition of LSU athletics for many years to come.”
“Cox’s partnership with LSU has been a win-win-win for Cox, LSU and our state,” said Jacqui Vines, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Louisiana. “Through Cox’s ten year partnership with TAF, and CST’s five year agreement with LSU Sports Properties, we have been a proud member of Team LSU. It remains our goal to provide our customers with the best programming, including local sports programming. The team of CST and LSU Athletics is one way we are fulfilling this important goal for our customers and the communities we serve.”
As part of the sponsorship agreement, Cox will retain premium signage in all LSU athletic facilities; radio, television, Internet and game program advertising; game sponsorship benefits, tickets and hospitality access for sporting events, and use of the Team LSU mark for advertising and promotions. Additionally, CST will continue to televise a minimum of 50 LSU events on an annual basis and retain its status as the “Exclusive Regional Sports Network Home of the LSU Tigers”.
Cox and LSU created new terms for the partnership including creation of an LSU all-access show featuring coaches and sports events coverage. The new extension also allows CST to expand its scheduled coverage of LSU Baseball.
