Cajuns softball team ends season in top 25
After falling out of the polls in week seven, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns softball team returns to the top-25 in finals polls of the 2010 season. The Cajuns are ranked No. 16 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll and are No. 17 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top-25.
The ranking in the NFCA polls ties the highest ranking the Cajuns had this season. In the second week of the season, UL was ranked 16th heading into the Houston Marriott Classic.
UL finished the season with a record of 45-18 after winning the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional and advancing to the NCAA Los Angeles Super Regional.
In Baton Rouge, the Cajuns defeated Louisiana State and Texas A&M, twice, to claim the Regional Championship. In Los Angeles, UL fell to the eventual national champions, UCLA.
Over the season, the Cajuns played eight opponents who are ranked in the final NFCA poll (UCLA, Washington, Missouri, Michigan, Georgia Tech, Texas, LSU and Texas A&M).
The Cajuns played 11 teams in the regular season that advanced to regional play. Three teams, Missouri, Michigan and Washington advanced to Super Regional play with the Tigers and Huskies grabbing a spot in the 2010 Women's College World Series.
