Tulane Football Staff to Barnstorm the State of Louisiana with Six Satellite Camps

New Orleans - For the fourth straight year, Tulane University head football coach Bob Toledo and the Green Wave football staff will barnstorm the state of Louisiana with six satellite camps in six different towns over a five-day stretch beginning on Tuesday in West Monroe at Neville H.S.

"Our annual satellite camps continue to provide us with the opportunity to reach out to players across the state of Louisiana and evaluate their talents," Toledo said. "They showcase their talents and receive skill lessons and instruction from our coaches. These camps allow us to see the best players in our state and they in turn get to know our staff."

The Tulane coaching staff begins their five-day trek on Tuesday, June 22 at Neville High School in West Monroe, the home of TU sophomore D.J. Banks. The opening camp will run from 8 a.m. to Noon.

On Wednesday, June 23, the group will put in a long day with a morning camp (8 a.m. to Noon) at Barbe High School in Lake Charles and an afternoon camp down the road in Lafayette at St. Thomas More High School from 5-9 p.m. The Wave boasts a pair of players from Lake Charles in sophomore offensive guard Zach Morgan, a member of the 2009 All-Conference USA Freshman Team, and incoming freshman linebacker Logan Hamilton, while a trio of players hail from Lafayette in junior fullback Kasey Stelly, sophomore receiver Devin Figaro and incoming freshman defensive back Cameron DeJean.

Thursday will be a new day in a different city when the Green Wave staff makes is fourth stop in three days at Thibodaux High School in Thibodaux with an evening camp from 5- p.m.

The following day (June 25), the caravan invades Memorial Stadium in Baton Rouge with another evening camp from 5-9 p.m. The 2010 Tulane roster features a pair of Baton Rouge natives in redshirt-sophomore quarterback/receiver D.J. Ponder, who is also a pitcher on the Green Wave baseball team, and incoming freshman running back Jamar Thomas.

On Saturday, June 26, the group concludes the five-day trek back with the final leg of the trip at the Westfeldt Practice Facility on the Tulane campus with a morning camp from 8 a.m. to Noon.

"These camps are a convenient and very affordable way for players in our state to learn from our coaches without traveling long distances. We have 28 players currently on our roster that we have seen in these camps over the past three years. They are now members of our team because they took advantage of this opportunity in their own back yards. The camps really give our program a presence throughout the state, and that is one of the biggest reasons why almost half our roster is now filled with players from the state of Louisiana," Toledo said.
