It was deja vu at Zephyr Field on Tuesday night, as a line drive off the bat of a Zephyrs player knocked an opposing starting pitcher out of the game.

Vinny Rottino's liner in the fourth inning appeared to strike Nashville's Josh Butler in the head, one night after a Bryan Petersen line drive sent Round Rock's Eric Hurley to the hospital.

Butler was attended to by the medical staffs of both teams for several minutes before being helped off the field. Sounds personnel declined comment on Butler's condition after the game.

Aside from another scary moment on the mound, the Zephyrs built a 6-1 lead through five innings before hanging on for a 6-5 win, snapping a three-game losing skid.

New Orleans capitalized on a critical fielding mistake in the first inning to grab an early 3-0 lead. With two out in the first, Ruben Gotay reached on a bouncer past the mound, and Joe Thurston followed with a single to right.

Josh Kroeger then laced a single to left, which went under the glove of a charging Brandon Boggs and rolled all the way to the wall, allowing not only Gotay and Thurston to score, but also allowing Kroeger to motor his way around the bases for a three-base error.

After Rottino's line drive knocked Butler from the game, Chris Aguila doubled Rottino home to extend the Zephyrs' lead to 4-1. The Z's added two more in the fifth, on a single by Thurston and a ground out by Rottino.

Nashville pecked away at the lead, striking for a pair of runs in the sixth against Z's starter Dallas Trahern. The damage could have been worse, as Jeremy Reed was thrown out attempting to score from first on an RBI double by Boggs.

Trahern (1-0) allowed three runs - two earned - on six hits in six innings to pick up his first win since April 22, 2009, after missing most of the last two years due to injury.

Eric Farris drilled a two-run homer in the eighth against Frank Mata, closing the Zephyrs' advantage to 6-5. Victor Garate came on to close the door in the eighth, and Jose Ceda worked around a leadoff walk in the ninth to record his third save.

The Zephyrs and Sounds continue the series on Wednesday morning at 11:30, with Tom Koehler facing off against Frankie De La Cruz.
