New Orleans Zephyrs score franchise-high 22 in win
Papillion, Nebraska - The New Orleans Zephyrs scored a franchise-high 22 runs to break out of a five-game road losing streak with a 22-6 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers on Thursday night at Werner Park.
Matt Dominguez was 4-for-4 with two home runs, five RBIs and three runs scored. Ruben Gotay had four hits and six RBIs, and Chris Aguila homered for the third consecutive game and drove home four runs.
The Zephyrs' seven home runs tied a franchise record set at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha 10 years ago.
The scoring started with a first-inning grand slam by Aguila. The Z’s led 5-3 in the seventh inning when the Zephyrs scored 17 runs in the final three at-bats.
New Orleans starter Chris Sampson pitched six innings to earn his second win in three starts. Kevin Pucetas allowed five runs and took the loss for Omaha.
The teams have combined to scored 65 runs in three games this series.
Game Notes – New Orleans' 20 hits is a season high, but five shy of the franchise record set in 2007. ... The Zephyrs added pitcher Pete Andrelczyk from Double-A Jacksonville. Andrelczyk left the Zephyrs for just one day. ... Bryan Petersen has reached base safely in 25 of his last 26 games. ... Former Zephyrs pitcher Brian Lawrence retired from the Salt Lake Bees on Thursday.
