Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower says he plans on hanging around with the team, for now.

Yahoo Sports reported over the weekend that Hornets General Bower spoke with Nets about that team's open general manager job. The hornets reportedly gave the Nets permission prior to the meeting.

Bower said in a written statement Tuesday that he is not interested in the job.

"I appreciate the interest shown by the New Jersey Nets to discuss the opportunity with me to head up their basketball operations. At this time, however, it is not the right fit for the Nets or myself. I remain focused on improving our Hornets roster on a daily basis."

Bower has been with the Hornets for 10 years and reportedly has two years left on his contract. Yahoo said the Nets did not make an offer Bower during their meeting.
