FAYETTEVILLE - Soon-to-be senior Shelise Williams, a member of the Arkansas Razorback women's track and field team, picked up another gold medal, this time as a member of the mile relay, at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 Championships on Sunday. The meet was contested Fri.-Sun., July 9-11, in Miramar, Fla.

"Another great relay leg from Shelise Williams," head coach Lance Harter said. "She continues to prove that she is one of the top quarter-milers in the U.S. and these NACAC races have been so valuable to her as she continues to improve and grow as a sprinter. The same goes for Makeba. This international experience really helps with collegiate competition."

Williams, a native of Long Beach, Calif., ran the third leg of the winning Team USA 4x400-meter relay. Ebony Collins, Amber Purvis, Williams and Tameka Jameson combined for a time of 3:29.80, topping the runners-up from Jamaica by nearly nine seconds.

Also on Sunday, soon-to-be sophomore Makeba Alcide finished third in the heptathlon with a personal-best total of 5,172 points. Representing her native St. Lucia, she recorded personal bests in the 200 meters (25.37), javelin (122-7) and the 800 meters (2:20.24). She also bettered her own St. Lucian National Record in the seven-event heptathlon.
